Privacy Policy
The Directors and Staff at SPA Vets take your privacy very seriously and make every effort to obtain your personal data accurately, handle it responsibly and keep it secure. It is your responsibility to inform us of any changes or inaccuracies and we will ask you to check the data we hold about you on a regular basis. The following sets out how we use your data and includes use of our website too. We have followed existing Data Protection 1998 guidelines and incorporated new aspects of the GDPR 2018.
If you have any concerns about the use of your personal data then please contact the nominated Data Supervisor, Clare Morrison, Clinical Director of SPA Veterinary Services Limited, 228 Painswick Road, Gloucester, GL4 4PH in writing. We will only hold data that is necessary, relevant and legitimate following the principles of GDPR 2018 and we will delete unnecessary and out of date data on an ongoing basis. You have the right to view your personal data that we hold and you have the right to ask us to correct it where appropriate. In almost all circumstances personal data will be name, address, telephone numbers and email addresses. We may also collect bank account details for insurance claims, Pet Health Schemes and for normal accounts procedures.
We will not disclose your personal data to a third party unless you have agreed to this or if the disclosure is lawful. This may mean that we will ask you or members of your family questions to verify your identity (much like collecting a prescription from the pharmacy). This will also mean that we may not disclose patient details unless we are sure that the request is authorised by you. This has particular relevance at the time of Client registration. Please make sure that the name and details you give us are for the owner which will be the person or persons caring for the pet’s day-to-day and who makes decisions and covers treatment costs.
We may also wish to communicate with you regarding treatment reminders, marketing of products and services, and for our Pet Care Club but you will be asked to opt in to receiving communications for these purposes.
Treatment Reminders As part of our service to you we will send treatment reminders by email, text or post. In some circumstances these details will be transferred to a third party who will send the email, text, or postal reminder. We treat your data with utmost care and have a contract in place with these third party providers that they will do likewise and are GDPR 2018 compliant. At no time will any of this data be subsequently used for other purposes.
Marketing Contact Currently, we do not engage in marketing activities and only very occasionally have we contacted clients with information that they may find interesting or useful. We do not intend to change this approach but would find it useful to have the facility to inform you about new drugs, new staff members and changes within the Practice. This contact with you may be by post, telephone, email or text message
Social Media SPA Vets may interact with you using external social media services and you should be aware of your general responsibilities when doing so. You should be clear about each platform’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy details and understand that we will never share your personal details or discuss sensitive aspects in this way.
This information is correct at the time of publication (March 2018) but we reserve the right to change aspects of this from time to time. When changes occur we will update our Privacy Policy on the website and on notices at each Practice premises but it is your responsibility to check these statements from time to time to make sure they are still relevant to you.
