Cat Vaccination Shortage- Autumn 21

Unfortunately due to a worldwide shortage of cat vaccines, we have now had to make the difficult decision to postpone all cat vaccinations except primary kitten vaccinations and year one boosters.

Our manufacturers have informed us that they expect the cat vaccine supply to improve early next year so we are expecting the delay to be for approximately 3 months.

Obviously we understand this is worrying for all our cat loving clients but please be reassured that your cat’s previous vaccinations will continue to protect them for a few months beyond when their booster is due. Indeed, during the first covid lockdown we were forced to stop all dog and cat vaccinations and once we were able to restart these, we worked very hard to catch up and provide vaccines for all overdue pets. We did not experience any disease outbreaks during this time so we believe your pets will still be safe.

We need to prioritise those pets who are more in danger of cat diseases, hence the decision to continue kitten vaccinations and the year one boosters (typically when cats are just over a year old).

Please rest assured once the supply of vaccinations is available again we will update you all immediately and work hard to accommodate administering your pet’s vaccines ASAP.

If your cat has a medical condition and you believe he or she would be at risk of diseases if not vaccinated then please contact us directly by phone and we will assess your pet’s situation individually.

Currently, we are not experiencing a shortage of dog vaccinations but if this situation changes we will update you as soon as we can.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding

Clare and Becky and the SPA team.

COVID UPDATE 19th JULY 2021

We are very happy to be able to welcome our clients back into our practice, both at the Painswick road and Quedgeley branches, from Monday 19th July in line with the Government’s easing of restrictions on social distancing - we’ve missed you!

We will, however, still require that FACE COVERINGS ARE WORN if you are entering our premises (unless you are exempt). All our staff are not yet fully vaccinated so we need to keep them safe. Also the track and trace system is still around for another few weeks and this has already put strain on our staffing levels, hence we need to try do what we can to keep covid out!

Any client who prefers to be seen outside can still do this, just speak to the nurse in the conservatory reception at Painswick road or ring reception at the Quedgeley branch when you arrive. We continue to be able to offer telephone and video consults if needed and can post medications out when required.

We will continue to ask clients to ring and order flea and worming treatments, repeat medication requests and food orders. These will be ready to collect within 24 hours, or 48 hours at the weekends. We will ring you if there is a problem, if you don’t hear from us you can assume these will be ready for you to pop in and collect the follwoing day. You can order these on the website or by phone choosing option 2.

We will still have a reception desk in the conservatory at Painswick road and the staff member there will be able to direct you when you arrive, either to the cat or dog waiting areas or if collecting pre-ordered medications, this can be done at the conservatory desk.

We hope that you will all enjoy coming back in as much as we will love being able to have a proper chat with you and give your pets some much needed cuddles and treats!

Clare and Becky and the SPA Vets Team.
