Cat Vaccination Shortage- Autumn 21
Unfortunately due to a worldwide shortage of cat vaccines, we have now had to make the difficult decision to postpone all cat vaccinations except primary kitten vaccinations and year one boosters.
Our manufacturers have informed us that they expect the cat vaccine supply to improve early next year so we are expecting the delay to be for approximately 3 months.
Obviously we understand this is worrying for all our cat loving clients but please be reassured that your cat’s previous vaccinations will continue to protect them for a few months beyond when their booster is due. Indeed, during the first covid lockdown we were forced to stop all dog and cat vaccinations and once we were able to restart these, we worked very hard to catch up and provide vaccines for all overdue pets. We did not experience any disease outbreaks during this time so we believe your pets will still be safe.
We need to prioritise those pets who are more in danger of cat diseases, hence the decision to continue kitten vaccinations and the year one boosters (typically when cats are just over a year old).
Please rest assured once the supply of vaccinations is available again we will update you all immediately and work hard to accommodate administering your pet’s vaccines ASAP.
If your cat has a medical condition and you believe he or she would be at risk of diseases if not vaccinated then please contact us directly by phone and we will assess your pet’s situation individually.
Currently, we are not experiencing a shortage of dog vaccinations but if this situation changes we will update you as soon as we can.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding
Clare and Becky and the SPA team.
